JWST has released its first results and they are spectacular! Come join us on Saturday, October 29 at 10am to hear experts from The Ohio State University describe these results, their implications for our understanding of the universe, and what the future may hold.
The Program
Our three talks and speakers will be
JWST and first objects in the universe - Professor Paul Martini
Spectacular nearby galaxies - Dr. Sumit Sarbadhicary
Exoplanets and the search for life - Ms. Kiersten Boley and Ms. Anusha Pai Asnodkar
We will also feature our newest Planetarium show, Georges Lemaître and the Discovery of the Expanding Universe.
We will have two sessions. Session 1 will start in Smith 1005 with the three talks, followed by the show in the Arne Slettebak Planetarium, Smith 5003. Session 2 will start in the Planetarium and then continue with the three talks in Smith 1005.
Weather permitting, we will have snacks outside after the event with opportunities to meet and ask questions of more members of the Department of Astronomy and the Center for Cosmology and Astrophysics.
Registration Information
Due to demand, we now have two sessions:
Register for Session 1 (starts in Smith 1005)
Register for Session 2 (starts in Planetarium, Smith 5003)
Zoom Option
If you would like to join us from afar, we will also broadcast the talks only via zoom. Click this zoom link to join us at 10am Eastern time on Saturday, October 29. Unfortunately, we can only live stream the talks, as it is difficult to capture the Planetarium experience via zoom.
