The Department of Astronomy at The Ohio State University is engaged in leading-edge astronomical research spanning the breadth of astronomy. This includes astronomical instrumentation, and observational and theoretical studies of stars, exoplanets, galaxies, and the large-scale structure of the universe, including the origin and evolution of chemical elements formed in stars and the Big Bang.
In addition to our exceptional research programs, we engage the broader communities of Ohio through world-class outreach programs including the Arne Slettebak Planetarium. We support our communities and teachers. 'Children of all ages', from preschool to those living their golden years, view the heavens through our telescopes and explore the Universe together.
