A member of the faculty since 2018, Prof. Wang is an observational astronomer with a focus on the discovery and characterization of exoplanets and the search for life beyond the Solar System. His work combines radial velocity, transits, high-contrast imaging, and high-resolution spectroscopy to study planets around other stars and their atmospheres. Prof. Wang has made contributions to understanding the formation, demographics, and habitability of planetary systems, including planets in binary and multiple-star systems, ultra-hot Jupiters, and potentially habitable worlds. Prof. Wang is also working on the development of next-generation astronomical instrumentation and observing techniques aimed at detecting and characterizing Earth-like planets and their potential biosignatures. Prior to joining Ohio State, Prof. Wang held postdoctoral appointments at Yale University and the California Institute of Technology. Prof. Wang was awarded an NSF CAREER award in 2022 and he won Ohio State's 2025 Excellence in Undergraduate Research Mentoring Award.
