New Planetarium Planned for Newark

Rendering of new planetarium in Newark

There will soon be a brand-new, state of the art planetarium in downtown Newark! The Works: Ohio Center for History, Art & Technology and The Ohio State University at Newark will build a $1.4 million SciDome planetarium at The Works' campus in downtown Newark. The planetarium will feature a 2,220 square foot SciDome with a 30-foot tilted dome, 4k digital projection, and theater-style seating for 60. The goal is for the facility to provide a visual learning environment for many Ohio State Newark courses, and further The Works' STEM education efforts.

Faculty member Michael Stamatikos will serve as The Works' Chief Science Officer. Dr. Stamatikos is an assistant professor in the Department of Physics and the Department of Astronomy at the Ohio State Newark campus.
