Jack Roberts wins 2025-26 Graduate Associate Teaching Award (GATA)

Jack Roberts and Elvira Cruz Cruz receive awards

The Graduate Associate Teaching Award is Ohio State’s highest recognition of the exceptional teaching provided by graduate students serving as Graduate Teaching Associates. GATA winners receive a one-time $2,000 award for their accomplishments and are honored at the annual Graduate School Awards Ceremony.

Jack Roberts

Jack has been an exemplary Graduate Teaching Associate (GTA), serving the department and the university in multiple capacities, and has consistently demonstrated his outsized ability as a teacher, mentor, leader, and colleague. Jack grew tremendously through his experience as a GTA, from his evolution from a first-semester GTA who was initially disinterested in teaching to leading the Astronomy 1101 GTA pool, mentoring undergraduate majors, and spearheading two new courses (Order of Magnitude, or OoM 1 and 2). Jack has discovered that he is an educator as well as a scientist. Congratulations to Jack Roberts on this incredible achievement.
