Teacher Resource Day

The Department of Astronomy hosted a Teacher Resource Day for local elementary and middle school teachers on Tuesday, August 1st. Teachers learned about the Sloan Digital Sky Survey's classroom activities, the telescope and outreach kits available for loan from the Department, the upcoming total solar eclipse, and visited the Arne Slettebak Planetarium to review state standards for space science. The workshop was organized by astrophysicist Paul Sutter, who is also the COSI Chief Scientist. Other participants from the Department included Planetarium Director Wayne Schlingman and Professor Richard Pogge.
