Along this trajectory, I briefly ventured into a side role as an independent consultant as well. My work primarily revolves around the development of AI-based computer vision solutions in both medical and industrial contexts, handling large data on the cloud, and with some recent forays into hands-on device prototype development. In this colloquium, I'll provide a high-level overview of my personal journey, focusing on insights gained through experiences, challenges encountered, a few highlights from my work, and the opportunities that unfold for physicists and astronomers contemplating a similar career shift.Speaker: Tuguldur Sukhbold In Person & Online: Chem & Biomolecular Eng & Chem (CBEC) - Room 130; Zoom Webinar Department of Astronomy astronomy@osu.edu America/New_York public

Title: From Explosive Simulations to Industrial Solutions

Abstract:

As a former astrophysics postdoc now marking my fourth year in the industry, I've traversed diverse terrains, initially as a data scientist collaborating with radiologists and currently honing my expertise in the realms of ophthalmology and aerospace. Along this trajectory, I briefly ventured into a side role as an independent consultant as well. My work primarily revolves around the development of AI-based computer vision solutions in both medical and industrial contexts, handling large data on the cloud, and with some recent forays into hands-on device prototype development. In this colloquium, I'll provide a high-level overview of my personal journey, focusing on insights gained through experiences, challenges encountered, a few highlights from my work, and the opportunities that unfold for physicists and astronomers contemplating a similar career shift.
