What 3D Convection Simulations Teach Us About StarsRegner Trampedach - University of ColoradoThe photospheres of late-type stars are convective, which affects our interpretation of all observations of such stars. The interior of these stars are partly determined by convection, but the extent of the convective envelope is not predicted by current formulations. Convection near the surface is also noisy and excites solar like p-mode oscillations. I present results on these and other issues, from a grid of 3D simulations of convective stellar atmosphere.Coffee and Donuts will be served at 2:00pm in 4054 McPherson Lab.
