Individual Studies - Telescopes and Astrophotography

Telescopes and Astrophotography, is a 1-credit hour individual studies course designed to train students in the safe operation of the Smith Lab Observatory 20-inch telescope for visual observing and astrophotography. It introduces the basic principles of optical telescopes, specifics of the operation of our telescope, and has a laboratory component introducing the practice of astrophotography using images acquired as part of this course with the digital camera(s) installed on the 20-inch telescope.

Astronomy 2193 - Independent library or laboratory work on a special problem or topic in observational or theoretical astronomy. Prereq: Permission of instructor. Repeatable to a maximum of 30 cr hrs or 3 completions. This course is graded S/U.
